A Special Visit for the Boys to Men Group 
Boys to Men is a group of young male students from Sixth Ward Elementary who meet once a week with Ms Melissa Aubert, Behavior Strategist, for 20 to 30 minutes. Members are expected to follow school rules during group meetings and throughout the school day. Ministers, community leaders, retired teachers and parents have been invited to participate in discussions with the group. On Wednesday, September 28th, the group received a special visit from Rev. Magee, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vacherie. Rev. Magee spoke to students about being respectful, setting goals, and selecting good role models. Students were attentive, shared their thoughts and asked questions. Rev. Magee volunteered to design t-shirts for the group at no cost.

A Night Of Elegance/ Church - Pastor & First Lady Banquet

 

FBC hosted their Pastor's 2nd Year Anniversary on February 19, 2011 at the Mike Anderson's Banquet Hall in Gonzales, La., at 4:00pm.  The attendance was at capacity and the food was great. 

Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Lucien R. Garrett, Sr., render a moving solo while accompanied by Pastor Brian Lewis.

Pastor Marc Nelson of the Woodville Baptist Church of Wallace, La., delivered a soul stirring message that turned a Night of Elegance into a "Worship Service". 

The spirit was high as Pastor Johnnie Magee and First Lady Dinah expressed their gratitude for all that was done.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH CELEBRATES 145TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

"A Church Destined by God"

   First Baptist Church, the oldest church in the River Parish, celebrated their 145th year anniversary on Sunday, January 23, 2011.
   First Baptist Church celebrated 145 years under the leadership of six great men who took the oath to carry out the Great Commission. 
   The congregational hymn "We Come This Far by Faith" was led by Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Lucien Garrett, Sr.
   Sis. Kayla Blain sung a solo "He Meant it for Our Good."
   The guest speaker for this grand occasion was Dr. Rev. Isaiah Franklin, the pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of St. Rose, La. Dr. Franklin's title of his sermon was "The Most Misunderstood Person in the Church: The Work of the Holy Spirit." His sermon came for John 14:15-18.
